"My father was never in the military. His religion was "The Golden Rule", the Ten Commandments and the Scriptures. Edward B. Shelton turned him off all organized religions. Leslie was about 6 feet tall, slender build, thick black man. His eyes were a combination of blue, gray and green. He was a quiet man who was kind, honest and hard working. He had a good sense of humor, enjoyed listening to music and listening to prize fights on the radio. He was the kind of person who would help anhone. He died after a long illness."
