| Notes for Maudie Ellen Redfern |
| "Granny" was always a hard worker. She raised not only her eight children but four grandchildren and cared for her father in his last years...all without any modern conveniences. She could look at a picture and make a dress without a pattern. She always had an open door...day or night and would feed you as soon as you came. She loved gardening and animals. She died in her sleep of pneumonia. When I get to heaven I will ask the Lord if she can make me some fried chicken! |
| Notes for Luther Warren (Bill) (Spouse 1) |
When Luther was eleven years old his family went on a wagon train to California. One of his sisters died along the way and the family returned to Oklahoma.
On June 20, 1953 Luther paid $600 in earnest money for deposit on 902 West Hadley, Las Cruces, NM.
Luther work for many years as a heavy equipment operator building highways all over New Mexico and into Arizona. He worked at White Sands Proving Grounds during the testing of the Atomic Bomb (probably the cause of the multiple skin cancers he had during his life). He died of liver cancer. He always had a excellent sense of humor and good sense of justice. You could always count on him for a little story or a cute little song. He supported his eight children, four grandchildren and his father-in-law for many years. He loved fiddle music and he could dance a jig.
He is buried at Las Cruces, New Mexico. |
